I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. It always seems to go so fast. I spent the summer with my family relaxing in Mexico. We spent most of June in the great town of San Carlos. I am now refreshed and excited for another great school year ahead, and I look forward to working with and getting to know you all this school year.
This year the students will be working hard to meet many goals, both academically and socially. Please make sure your child is reading for about 30 minutes nightly; this will help them reach their Accelerated Reading goals and complete their book projects. In addition to reading, students will have a nightly practice set to complete in math. For most students this practice set should take only about 5 minutes. These are my typical homework assignments, however there will occasionally be some spelling practice and math problem solving assignments as well.
As for class materials, students will want the following items for personal use: pencils, pens, colored pencils, 4-5 separate notebooks (please no multi-subject notebooks), 3-4 Expo (dry erase) markers, a highlighter, scissors, a glue stick, memory/flash drive, ear buds, and a pencil box for storage. Of course if you budget allows, any extra materials are always appreciated to use throughout the year. This year I am really going to be working with the students on organization and planning, therefore I am limiting the amount of materials that students will be keeping in their desks. Students will want to bring a backpack to keep their supplies handy.
I have also included the PowerPoint Presentation from the Meet and Greet Afternoon , a welcome letter, and the classroom procedures information below if you would like to have it for reference. I look forward to a great year and please contact me with any questions or concerns. Fifth Grade Rocks!
Thank you for all of your support this year!
